INTERNSHIP PROGRAM INFORMATION

For Grant Writers and Grant Writing Consultants

What is an internship?  An opportunity to work one-on-one with Dr. Bev Browning, a 35+ year grant writing veteran with over $200 million in demonstrated successes in all topics, all types of funding sources and in preparing any type of application/proposal, domestically or internationally.

Can an internship be customized?  Yes, based on the specific learning needs of each intern.

How long is the grant writing internship?  An internship lasts for the duration of one grant writing project (usually no longer than six months).  The completion of one application or proposal is the last step in the internship process.

How long is the grant writing consultancy internship? Typically, interns exit at six months; however three month extensions are available upon request.

When can an internship start? Any time based on the availability of Dr. Bev.

How can an intern identify a project to work on for the internship?  You can get started by identifying the funding needs for any nonprofit organization.  Dr. Bev will guide grant writing interns in conducting a funding search to identify foundation and/or corporate funding opportunities for the nonprofit based on their specific area of need.  Individuals already possessing grant writing experience may use the internship to write more effective state or federal grant applications.  Dr. Bev will mentor experienced grant writers seeking to become profitable grant writing consultants.  This type of internship is structured differently than a typical grant writing internship.

What are the actual contact hours for the internship? That depends on funding source deadlines, how long it takes the intern to collect the preliminary research on the nonprofit and gather the necessary items needed to start the actual writing process.

How can an intern work with Dr. Bev one-on-one when there will be no in-person meetings?  You will be using technology to facilitate a virtual or distance learning experience.  E-mail, telephone, fax and overnight mail can move documents, ideas, conversations back and forth between Dr. Bev and an intern.

What is the fee for the internship?  For single internships (grant writing or grant consulting) the fee is $3,500 payable in advance (all major credit cards accepted).  For combined internships (grant writing and grant consulting, the fee is $4,500.  Grant writing and combined interns will receive the textbook (Grant Writing For Dummies) as a resource tool and will assist the intern in becoming more familiar with the grantseeking and grant writing process.  Grant consulting interns will receive the PDF e-book, How to Become a Grant Writing Consultant.  Both books will aid in the assignments that Dr. Bev gives to interns.

What does Dr. Bev expect of an intern?  Dr. Bev expects time management abilities, tenacity, curiosity, promptness, excellent writing skills and a desire to win grant monies for their efforts.

What does Dr. Bev need to get started with an intern? Fee payment of internship tuition (all major credit cards are accepted), an up-to-date resume and completed action plan.
